About Brutally Frank:
Brutally Frank got it’s start in a damp musty basement in March of 2002. Klyntt, Mell (on a borrowed drum set), and Jylle would lay down the groundwork with a little help from a gallon of wine, hence the first song written “Wino Revolution”. In less than a year some internal drama unfolds and Steevo replaces Jylle on bass. In 2003 they release “Live at the Green Room” which was only the 4th show with Steevo on bass. Keep in mind the upright did not come into play until 2004. Also in 2003 Mell is in a head on collision and they take a break for her to heal.
The rest of 2003-2004 they spend recording songs for what will become “TH1RT3EN“. During the recording process it is mentioned that Steevo should play upright to accommodate their evolving new sound and is surprised by Mell with his first upright. It is decided that he will play it on the new recordings even though he has no idea what he’s doing. A short time later they burn 10 copies of their songs and one lands in the hands of Mohawk Matt, the founder of Zero Youth Records. They release “TH1RT3EN” on ZYR in 2005. They also release a vinyl 7″, “She’ll Bleed”, on Wee Rock Records the same year
. Up until then they were mostly playing in the Midwest but ’05 also marks their first tour and a spot on the St. Louis stop of the Vans Warped Tour. 2006 marks a dark cloud that still shadows the band to this day. Only a month before they are to head out on tour their trailer is stolen with all their equipment inside. Knocked down but not out BF scrambles to buy/borrow what they can to still do their tour. While on tour a local store calls to inform them a couple of stolen items had been brought in by someone looking to sell them and would be waiting for them when they returned.

Constantly playing the Midwest, hosting touring bands and touring out of state themselves when they can they slowly but surely start to build a reputation among their peers. In 2006 Steevo starts 7 Sin Records and releases a tribute album to local legends, Vaginal Discharge. 2007 brings them 2 releases, “One For The Road”, a full length and “Midwestern Moon” an E.P. both on ZYR. 2008 starts strong with one of their best tours to date and ends with the tragic death of their dear friend and original Los Bad Guy, Dave. Every note played since his passing has been a tribute to the impact he had on this band and the times they shared.
In 2010 BF did their first ever East Coast tour and performed at the 10th anniversary of the legendary Heavy Rebel Weekender in Winston-Salem,NC. 2011 brought yet another heart ache when an F-5 tornado tore through their hometown on Joplin,MO and nearly claimed Klyntt’s life. Scarred mentally and physically BF had to do what they do best to heal their wounds and went back out on the road. They toured the East again along with performing at HRW again in support of their newly released E.P., “Back Against The Wall” on Steevo’s label 7 Sin Records. Entering 2012 it is time for celebration as BF turns 10 in March. They will be recording their anniversary show in Joplin,MO to release as a live album later this year and there is talk about a split with their brothers from CA, The Henchmen this year also. This group is more of a family than band with one common love interest, ROCKNROLL.
